The IB Mathematics AA formula booklet provides a structured collection of key formulas across number and algebra, functions, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability, and calculus. However, it is not a complete formula dictionary, so students must still memorise important relationships such as exact unit-circle values, selected derivative and integral rules, discriminant conditions, and function … Read more

IB Mathematics AA calculation questions test more than the ability to reach a correct numerical answer—they also assess how clearly students set up, develop, and justify each mathematical step. Depending on the paper, questions may involve exact calculations, multi-step algebra or calculus, GDC-assisted numerical work, “show that” tasks, or applied modelling. Clear working is essential … Read more

IB Mathematics AA Paper 2 is a calculator-active examination that tests how effectively students can combine mathematical reasoning with accurate use of a graphing display calculator. Both SL and HL students complete shorter questions in Section A and extended multi-part problems in Section B, with HL covering greater depth and more advanced content. Success depends … Read more

The IB Mathematics AA exam format differs between Standard Level and Higher Level, with SL students sitting two external papers and HL students sitting three. Paper 1 is completed without a calculator, Paper 2 requires a graphing display calculator, and HL candidates also take Paper 3, which focuses on extended problem solving in unfamiliar mathematical … Read more
