The IGCSE — International General Certificate of Secondary Education — is a globally recognised qualification typically taken between ages 14 and 16. It is designed, examined and awarded by the University of Cambridge (and also offered by Edexcel/Pearson), and it is the single most important credential your child will earn before A-Level, IB Diploma or university admissions.

In Vietnam, IGCSE is offered at virtually every international school — BIS, BVIS, ISHCMC, SSIS, EIS, TAS and many others. But international school classrooms are built for the average of 20 students, not for your child. Times Edu is where students come to close gaps, push past plateaus and turn predicted B grades into final A*s.

Why IGCSE matters

Strong IGCSE results directly determine your child's A-Level or IB subject choices, influence university offers (many UK universities include IGCSE grades in their conditional offers), and build the academic foundation that determines every step afterwards. A single C grade in IGCSE Maths can quietly close doors that should have stayed open.

How Times Edu is different

We assign one dedicated mentor per student — usually a CIE-registered examiner or a specialist with a 10+ year track record teaching the exact syllabus your child is sitting. No rotating tutors. No generic worksheets. Every lesson is built around your child's most recent mock paper.

From registration to May exam.

Most Times Edu AP students join us 6–9 months before the May exam window. Here is how we structure a typical engagement.

Month 1

Diagnostic

Baseline AP exam, FRQ diagnostic and study-plan design for each subject.

Month 2–4

Content build

Unit-by-unit teaching synchronised with the College Board Course & Exam Description.

Month 5–6

FRQ drills

Past-paper multiple-choice and full free-response marking to AP rubric.

Month 7

Exam ready

Full-length AP mocks under timed conditions and final score-boosting sprints.

Four principles that define every Times Edu lesson.

Our coaching philosophy has been shaped by seven years of teaching IGCSE students inside international schools across Vietnam.

01

Syllabus-first

Every lesson maps directly to a numbered learning objective in the official Cambridge or Edexcel syllabus.

02

Past-paper driven

We do not teach from textbooks alone. Real past papers from the last 8 years anchor every session.

03

Examiner feedback

Every homework is marked against the real mark scheme — with examiner commentary your child can actually use.

04

Parent visibility

Monthly progress reports, grade predictions and a dedicated WhatsApp channel with your child's mentor.

What our IGCSE students actually achieve.

Five 5s on AP Calc BC, Physics C Mech, Chemistry, Lang and US History. Times Edu gave me College Board confidence I never had in class.

★★★★★

My son went from a 3 predicted to a final 5 on AP Chemistry in four months. The FRQ drills and examiner-style marking were what made the difference.

Times Edu was the only centre that had a mentor who had actually taught AP Physics C with calculus. That specificity is what we were paying for.

Everything you want to ask before starting.

Still have questions? Book a free 60-minute diagnostic and our academic advisor will answer every one.

My school does not offer APs. Can my child still sit the exams?

Yes. We help students register as private candidates at authorised AP test centres in Vietnam and the region. We have done this dozens of times — ask us for the current registration pathway.

How many APs should a US-bound student take?

Most top US universities expect to see 5–8 APs across a student's high-school career, weighted towards subjects aligned with their intended major. We can help you plan a realistic, high-impact AP portfolio during the free diagnostic.

Can you help with AP Calculus BC even if my child is struggling with AB?

Yes. We regularly rebuild Calculus AB foundations in the first 4–6 weeks and then bridge into BC content. This is one of our most common starting scenarios.

How much does AP tutoring cost?

Our signature 1:1 AP mentoring starts from $70 per 90-minute session, with multi-subject package discounts. Full details are on our Tuition page.

Do you also help with SAT and US college applications?

Yes. We run a dedicated SAT preparation programme and many students combine SAT + AP prep under one roadmap. College application and essay support is included in every package.

Can you teach APs fully online?

Yes. More than half of our AP students learn fully online via our custom platform with live 1:1 video and recorded replays.

Five 5s. One mentor per subject. Zero shortcuts.

Book a free 60-minute AP diagnostic. Our advisors will design a subject portfolio, a May-exam timeline and a realistic score prediction for every subject your child plans to sit. Worth $60 — free for the first 50 families.
