SAT Math,
drilled to
800.
The quantitative half of the Digital SAT — two adaptive modules covering algebra, advanced math, problem solving and geometry. Vietnamese students typically score higher on Math — our job is to close the gap to a perfect 800.
Two adaptive modules testing algebra, functions, geometry, trigonometry and data analysis. Worth 200–800 — and where Vietnamese students have the biggest advantage.
Math is where Vietnamese students should dominate.
The Digital SAT Math section is the section where Vietnamese international school students have a natural advantage — strong maths education from a young age. Most arrive at the diagnostic scoring 650–700 with minimal preparation. Our job is to close the gap from 700 to 780+.
Where the last 100 points hide
The jump from 700 to 800 is almost entirely about eliminating careless errors and mastering the 15% of questions that test advanced concepts (quadratics, systems, exponentials, circle equations, trigonometry). These are coachable in 6–8 weeks.
Calculator strategy
The Desmos graphing calculator is built into the Bluebook app on every Math question. Students who know how to use Desmos strategically can solve 30% of questions faster than by hand. We teach Desmos technique as a distinct skill.
Every Math domain, drilled to perfection.
The Digital SAT Math section covers four content domains — each with specific question patterns.
Algebra
Linear equations, inequalities, systems of equations, functions.
Advanced Math
Quadratics, polynomials, exponentials, radicals, rational expressions.
Problem Solving & Data
Ratios, percentages, probability, statistics, data analysis.
Geometry & Trigonometry
Area, volume, circles, right triangles, trig ratios, radians.
Desmos Strategy
Using the built-in graphing calculator to solve problems faster.
Back-Solving
Plugging answer choices into the question to find the right one.
Error Prevention
Systematic checking protocol that catches careless arithmetic mistakes.
Time Management
Completing 22 questions in 35 minutes with review time.
Two modules. Adaptive. One target.
Same adaptive mechanism as R&W — strong Module 1 unlocks harder Module 2 for higher scores.
Math Module 1
22 questions. Performance determines Module 2 difficulty.
Math Module 2
22 questions. Adaptive — harder or easier based on Module 1.
Section Score
Combined modules → scaled to 200–800.
Desmos Calculator
Built-in graphing calculator available on every question.
Why even strong students lose marks here.
These are the three traps we see most often — and every one is fixable with focused coaching.
Careless errors
The #1 reason Vietnamese students miss 800. We teach a systematic checking protocol that catches sign errors, misreads and arithmetic slips.
Slow algebra
Students who solve systems of equations by substitution when elimination is faster waste 2 minutes per question. Speed technique is drilled from week 1.
Trig avoidance
About 5–8% of Math questions require trigonometry. Students who skip them lose 30–50 points. We drill trig identity questions explicitly.
From diagnostic to test day.
Math was supposed to be my strong section but I kept getting 720. Times Edu found three specific error patterns — sign errors, misread questions, slow algebra. Fixed all three in six weeks. Final: 790.
What families always ask about Math.
My child already scores 700+ on Math. Is coaching still worth it?
Yes — the jump from 700 to 780+ is where coaching has the highest ROI. It is almost entirely about eliminating specific error patterns and drilling the 15% of advanced-concept questions.
Should my child use the Desmos calculator on every question?
No — Desmos is faster for about 30% of questions (graphing, intersections, systems) but slower for simple arithmetic. We teach when to use it and when not to.
How much geometry and trig is on the SAT?
About 15–20% of Math questions. This is a significant chunk — enough to cost 60–80 points if neglected. We drill it explicitly.
What is the difference between SAT Math and AP Calculus?
SAT Math is pre-calculus level — algebra, geometry, trig, data analysis. No calculus. Students taking AP Calc find SAT Math very manageable.
