The Digital SAT Reading & Writing section is where most Vietnamese students leave 50–100 points on the table. The section tests vocabulary in context, evidence-based inference, grammar conventions and rhetorical expression across two adaptive modules of 27 questions each.
The adaptive trap
Module 2 adapts based on Module 1 performance. A strong Module 1 unlocks a harder Module 2 — which is required to reach the 700+ score range. Students who play it safe on Module 1 never get access to the high-scoring Module 2 questions. We drill aggressive Module 1 pacing from week 1.
Our approach
Every Times Edu SAT R&W student drills one full module per session. By week 6 most students can complete Module 1 with 90%+ accuracy in under 30 minutes, unlocking the harder Module 2 consistently.

Slow reading
Students who read every passage word-by-word run out of time. We teach strategic reading — scanning for structure, then targeted re-reading.
Vocabulary gaps
The SAT tests ~200 high-frequency academic words repeatedly. Students who have not drilled these lose 4–6 questions per module.
Grammar guessing
Standard English questions have clear rules. Students who guess instead of applying rules lose 3–5 easy marks per module.

How many vocabulary words should my child learn?
About 200 high-frequency SAT words cover 80% of vocabulary-in-context questions. We drill these systematically over 8 weeks using spaced retrieval.
Is the grammar section learnable?
Very — 12 core rules cover 90% of Standard English questions. We teach these rules explicitly in weeks 1–3 and drill them for the rest of the programme.
How does adaptive scoring work on R&W?
Module 1 is fixed difficulty. Strong Module 1 performance (roughly 20+ correct out of 27) unlocks the harder Module 2, which is required for scores above ~680.
